All Combat Mechanics
Deflect System
DefenseTap the deflect button right as an enemy attack lands to negate all damage. Green deflects are perfect timing, orange deflects are adequate. Special red attacks require much tighter timing.
💡 Tips
- • Green deflect = perfect timing, greater counter opportunities
- • Orange deflect = adequate timing, still negates damage
- • Red flash attacks need very precise timing — practice on weak enemies first
- • Don't force deflects on every attack — sometimes dodging is safer
Blocking
DefenseHold the block button to reduce incoming damage. Blocking builds up your posture meter — if it fills, you get guard-broken and stunned.
💡 Tips
- • Block reduces damage but doesn't eliminate it completely
- • Blocking fills your posture meter — watch the bar
- • Mix blocking with deflects to manage posture pressure
- • Some attacks cannot be blocked — watch for red indicators
Posture & Guard Break
DefenseEvery blocked or deflected hit fills your posture meter. When it maxes out, you get guard-broken and left vulnerable. Manage posture by mixing deflects, dodges, and blocks.
💡 Tips
- • Posture resets over time when you're not blocking
- • Guard break leaves you stunned for about 1 second
- • Heavy attacks deal more posture damage than light attacks
- • Use the Maim attack (V key) for extra posture damage on enemies
Dodging & Dashing
MovementUse dodge to evade attacks entirely, especially unblockable red AOE attacks. Dashing covers distance quickly for repositioning or escaping pressure.
💡 Tips
- • Red AOE attacks must be dodged — they cannot be blocked or deflected
- • Dash away from enemies that are combo-locking you
- • Use dash to close distance after an enemy finishes an attack chain
- • Dodge timing is more forgiving than deflect timing
Red & Unblockable Attacks
DefenseEnemies telegraph powerful attacks with red flashes or red ground indicators. Red flash attacks can be deflected with precise timing. Red AOE ground attacks must be dodged entirely.
💡 Tips
- • Red flash = can be deflected with very tight timing
- • Red ground AOE = dodge out of the area immediately
- • Bosses use red attacks more frequently — learn their patterns
- • When in doubt, dodge away rather than risk a failed deflect
Reiatsu Management
ResourceReiatsu is the energy resource that powers your special abilities and skills. Managing it well is key to sustained combat performance.
💡 Tips
- • Reiatsu regenerates over time — don't spam skills mindlessly
- • Some skills cost more Reiatsu than others — check costs in the skill tree
- • Running out of Reiatsu mid-fight leaves you with only basic attacks
- • Invest in Reiatsu-related skills if you rely heavily on abilities
Z-Step
MovementA chase-down move: knock an enemy into the air, then immediately follow up with a Z-Step compatible move plus rushdown (Shift + Q).
💡 Tips
- • Only works after knocking an enemy airborne
- • Must use a Z-Step compatible move — not all skills work
- • Practice the timing in low-stakes fights first
- • Great for extending combos and finishing off low-HP enemies
Power Up / Power Down
OffenseUse G to increase your power level and H to decrease it during combat. Higher power means more damage but may have trade-offs.
💡 Tips
- • Power Up increases your damage output
- • Power Down can be useful for managing certain mechanics
- • Experiment with power levels to find your preferred combat rhythm
- • Some builds benefit from staying at specific power levels
